Starting a croc charm business is a great way to make money and show off your creativity. However, it is important to understand your customer demand, market trend, and competition. This will help you in creating a plan for your business, and develop products that are attractive to customers. Moreover, it is important to choose the right location for your store. This will ensure that your store is accessible to your target audience and can boost your sales.
Boulder homemaker Sheri Schmelzer started her company, Jibbitz, by accident. While doing arts and crafts with her kids, she stuck a few flower-shaped charms in the holes of their Crocs. The kids loved them, and the idea caught on.
Today, there are more than 26 million pairs of the clog-shaped shoes speckled with little holes – most of them on the feet of accessory-friendly youth. Jibbitz, as the company’s decorative designs are known, can be anything from peace signs and flowers to rhinestones and stickers.
Although croc charms are easy to find in most stores, they can be expensive. A little DIY, though, can let you make your own bespoke Croc jibbitz or charms at a fraction of the cost. To get started, pick a design for your charms and print it on Shrinky Dink paper. You can also use a Cricut or Silhouette machine to cut the design out. Bake the Shrinky Dinks in an oven at 300 degF for 3 to 5 minutes, or until they are completely flattened. Then, glue them on a Jibbitz backing.
